Premises

Spaces may be created and configured by an authorized user, typically a user with the KB Manager role, or an application administrator.

Creating space

To add a new space to the knowledge base, click the Add button in the upper-right corner. After clicking, a selection will open with the options Add Space and Add Article. Click the Add Space option.

If the button for adding a space does not appear, check whether you have permission to add spaces. You can configure permissions at Users and Groups → User Details → Permissions tab → Knowledge Base → Space.

After clicking the Add Space button, a new window will open for entering the space parameters. Required fields are marked with a • next to the name.

The form contains the following fields:

  • Title – the name under which the section will be displayed.
  • Description – a detailed description of the section. It can provide an overview of the content of the articles you will place in this section.
  • Person in charge – responsible for managing articles and, if applicable, categories within the space. It is possible to select multiple users from among the assignees or a group of assignees. These users will be responsible for the quality of the knowledge base and for approving article proposals from other users. The environment administrator, the space founder, and the responsible person will have access to the space.
  • Show responsible person in the list – option to determine whether the users responsible for the space should be visible to other users
  • Image – this setting offers two options:
    • Icon – clicking this displays a button for selecting the icon and its color.
    • Image – clicking this displays a field for selecting an image.
  • Visibility – settings for access to the space
    • Public – the space will also be accessible to people who do not have access to CDESK.
    • Internal – the space will be accessible only to users with access to CDESK who also have permission to access the space. You can set permissions in the Users and Groups section → user details → Permissions tab → Knowledge Base → Space.
To create the space, click the Save button.

Space Editing

Only users with permission to edit the space can edit it. You can set permissions at Users and Groups → User Details → tab Permissions → Knowledge Base → Space.

To edit the space, click the “” icon located in the upper-right corner.

Clicking this will open a form with the room settings. You can change any of the settings. To save your changes, click the Save button in the lower-right corner. Click the Cancel button to close the form without saving your changes.
