By default, searches are performed in the following objects:
- Requests
- Work orders
- Tasks
- Deals
- Projects
- Project deals
- Items (CI)
- Fulfilments
- Contacts
- Companies
- Knowledge base
In addition, you can search for the following objects, but you must first define them in the conditions (see the procedure below):
- Requests discussion
- Requests catalog tiles
- Requests templates
- Menu items
- Settings items
The tool searches not only the object titles, but also the descriptions and other fields. If you click on the search field without entering a term, the last 10 records edited by the logged-in user will be displayed by default. To narrow or expand the search results, use Search help. It appears when you click the icon in the search field.
You can narrow your search to just My Objects (by checking the corresponding checkbox), or to any of the objects listed above, or a combination thereof. This can be done either by clicking on the given condition or by entering a short code corresponding to the given object category (my: for My Objects, cdr for Requests, cdrd for Discussion in Requests, etc.). These codes, along with their explanations, are listed in the Search Guide.
The results display the object type and name, the assigned company, the assignee/creator, the status, and the creation date. Clicking on the name opens the object; clicking on the icon opens a modal window for the object, from which you can easily return to the search. The results are grouped by object type.
Pressing the Enter button after clicking the Central Search field opens the Centralized search for CDESK objects modal window. This window extends the functionality of the “Central Search” field. Individual object types are organized into tabs. For each object type, you can specify the number of records displayed (10, 20, 50, or 100). It is also possible to search within completed records, which the search field does not allow.
