General overview

Notifications in the CDESK system are used for automatically informing users about events and changes that occur when records are processed in the individual modules. Two ways of sending notifications are available – Basic notifications and Rule-based notifications. Basic notifications remain available for the supported modules, while the Rule-based notifications module is a solution with extended configuration options. Their main aim is to give administrators full control over the wording of customer and assignee notifications and to flexibly set the conditions under which notifications are sent.

Notifications are supported in the Deals, Requests, Invoicing, Offers, Tasks, Approval, Work Orders, Knowledge Base, Asset Management and Projects modules. Extended processing with Rule-based notifications is available for the Requests, Project Deals, CMDB and Borrowings modules.

Once rule-based notifications are activated, the original basic notification settings stop being used for the supported modules. After they are turned off, the original settings are used again.

With basic notifications, SMS is sent only in the Requests module for the two highest priorities and requires an activated and correctly configured SMS gateway; it is not supported in the other modules. With Rule-based notifications, SMS is configured through a separate SMS template (see the Notification templates for sending rules chapter).
