Creating a new request via the request catalog

Requests based on the templates defined in the request catalog can be created in several ways. System access is required to submit a request via the catalog.

Creating a request in the request list

One way to enter a request is to do so directly from the list of requests (section Requests → Requests). To add a request from the catalog, use the button + Add from Catalog. This option is displayed if the requests catalog is enabled in the section Global Settings → Requests → Requests Catalog and the user has been assigned the appropriate permission.

After clicking the button, you will select a template (tile) based on which the request will be created. Only tiles that are visible to the logged-in user are available for selection.

When you click on a tile, a form for creating a request opens. The header of the request displays the name of the applied template. Depending on the template settings, some fields are pre-filled, while others may be hidden. The meanings of the individual fields are explained in detail in the following documentation sections: Meaning of fields in the request template form.

Creating a request using the speed dial button

You can also submit a new request by clicking the quick-choice button, which is available in the top bar of the web version of the system. The button is available in all sections of the system and always appears in the same location. Clicking the button displays a list of options, including the option Add request from catalog (depending on the system configuration).

After clicking the button, the process for submitting a request is the same as when submitting a request in the Requests → Requests section. First, you must select a tile from the available request templates, after which a form for creating the request will open.

Creating a request via the home screen

To create a request from the catalogue of requests, you can also use the home screen of the CDESK system. Depending on the configuration, the Request Catalog widget is available in the Home Screen section. This widget directly displays the tiles that are accessible to the logged-in user. Clicking on a tile opens the form for creating a request. We cover the topic of configuring widgets in the Overview section in detail in the documentation at Overview.
